Chevron Products' Pascagoula, Mississippi refinery complex is one of the largest and most profitable refineries within the Chevron Corporation. Precision Engineering has performed numerous automation and I&E engineering projects for the refinery over the last five years. We are one of the preferred I&E/ Control Systems Engineering contractors for the Chevron USA Products Company. While the majority of the refinery is controlled by Honeywell TDC 3000 systems, there are well over 60 independent PLC control systems spread throughout the refinery. We began work at the refinery on these independent PLC systems and have since spread our work to the DCS and safety systems. The LPG Truck Loading facility is a unique installation in that this particular system needed to communicate with several other process control and business systems within the refinery. We provided the turnkey installation of an LPG Truck Loading Control System consisting of an Allen Bradley programmable logic controller, two Allen Bradley PanelView Operator Terminals, and an HMI computer. All control system devices communicate utilizing a redundant Allen Bradley ControlNet network. The control system integrates with a refinery wide CardKey security system. The HMI computer is configured with Windows NT, and Rockwell Software's RSView32. The system is connected to the refinery-wide Ethernet network, allowing operations and security information to be accessed by remote administration workstations.
