GE Plastics has a Lexan production facility in Burkville, Alabama. Precision Engineering provided turnkey services to replace the existing Applied Automation DCS with a Yokogawa Centum CS3000 DCS in the Finishing Plant at the Burkville Facility. Precision Engineering's scope of services included specification, purchasing, configuration, installation, checkout and startup of the new Yokogawa Centum CS3000 DCS. The project included configuration of 8,000 I/O points, 400 operator graphics and over 5,000 unique sequences. Precision Engineering also provided installation of the new DCS. This included demolition of the Applied Automation DCS, installation of new network cabling/equipment and installation of all new hardware. Precision Engineering's scope of services also included interfacing production systems with legacy VAX business systems. The technology used to interface the production systems included Oracle database, Visual Basic, and Yokogawa Exaopc.
