2004 to Present
Mechanical Engineer, Project Manager, and Construction Manager for multiple projects including a new control room project and a reinstrumentation project at a refinery. 1994 to 2004 Engineering/Construction/Maintenance Manager for a world class PET resin production facility. Managed all aspects of capital/expense project work and maintenance activities within the 700 TPD capacity plant. Position had several direct engineering and technical staff reports, as well as a contingent of hourly subcontract maintenance personnel reporting to it. Also served as Sr. Project Engineer on two major (>$100MM) capital expansions as well as numerous smaller projects. Responsible for: conceptual development, scope and cost estimate preparation, detailed design, construction, pre-commissioning and final start up. Duties included funding acquisition and project approval, expenditure authorization, project and departmental budget administration, schedule adherence, bid acquisitions and evaluation, contracts negotiation and procurement, sub-contracts oversight, work safety monitoring and compliance, document control, etc. Maintenance programs and support included predictive (PdM), preventive (PM) and corrective (CM) activities, as well as annual maintenance turn-arounds on four production units. Led implementation effort for an Oracle database integration to the plant CMMS to generate site wide metrics used to evaluate Maintenance Department performance and effectiveness. 1993 to 1994 Directly responsible for design and specification of complete plant process and utility systems, including rotating and stationary equipment, vessels, distribution piping and related appurtenances. Work involved application and interpretation of ASME B&PV, ANSI B31, API Codes and TEMA and NACE standards. Duties included computerized pipe stress analysis, P&ID development, project document management, vendor coordination and shop drawing approval. 1989 to 1993 Primary duties involved project engineering and mechanical design support as engineering consultant to specialty chemical, pulp/paper and aerospace industries. Involved in all aspects of project management - preliminary scope development, construction cost estimating, engineering proposal and client capital appropriations request preparation, client management/liaison, bid preparation and purchasing, contract negotiations, and schedule management. Provided on-site construction field support for clients and subcontract work inspection and management, including field change requests execution. Performed detailed mechanical, equipment and piping design on numerous systems and directed mechanical and piping design/drafting personnel efforts. 1987 to 1989 Developed detailed mechanical design for various aerospace manufacturing plant systems at Martin Marietta Manned Space Systems. |
